He's got red hair, will West Ham care? | Bangkok Post: news

It is probably fair to say that the appointment of David Moyes as West Ham manager has not exactly been greeted by Hammers' fans dancing in the streets. For pub trivia fans, it has never been satisfactorily explained why West Ham supporters adopted this song which was a big hit in the 1920s. It is claimed the presence at that time of a West Ham player with curly hair prompted the singing. When West Ham won the 1940 League War Cup Final at Wembley , beating Blackburn 1-0, their fans sang Bubbles several times. When Moyes was in his prime at Everton, a regular chant at Goodison Park was "Davey, Davey Moyes -- he's got red hair, but we don't care".
